Saving money is one of the most difficult things for Colombian households to achieve due to multiple factors, one of which is the difficult situation families are facing as a result of the economic crisis.
Money is increasingly scarce for purchases, services, obligations, and other expenses; however, some people have the means to keep their money in banks or even piggy banks.
This is the story of a Colombian couple who decided to save $500 at a time, depositing the coins in a 20-liter water bottle, obviously empty.
The couple, who are apparently from Bogotá, uploaded the video on TikTok of them slicing the plastic bottle with a knife.
Through their social media accounts, the couple announced that after a thorough count, they had tallied a total of eight million pesos.
“We didn’t find any photos from when everything was already counted. There were approximately 8 million coins worth of just 500 and 1000,” they revealed.
Internet users have been impressed by this couple’s savings ability, as they spent nearly four years depositing coins into their empty water bottle.
“Amazing, this is what I need to travel,” “it’s a good way to save a lot of money, but I don’t know if it can be that persistent,” “how cool, I wish I could have saved that amount of money,” were some of the comments on the Buitragozzz account.
